Planning...

Why is planning tough? Once planned, sticking to the plans and the time schedule is more tough...
I recall that I already wrote a post re planning, and how much I am struggling..It seems like I felt back again... anyways..need to get up and stick to the plans :)

Attached a photo of the Tulips ...Liek the way they seek towards the heat from the television...

What really matters is what you do while you are alive here on earth!

Have nothing to write today...but just to count the numbers of days passed in this year 2012... This post...lol

Oh by the way I have used the Lebara Mobile simcard but never knew that the company is founded by three Tamils. The company is worth for billions, and it is just amazing that our Tamils succeeded in making businesses worth billions. Just amazing. Hats off for those guys!!!
I wish more Tamils would stand out like this inthe coming years!!!

Lebara mobiles has also founded a trust to help children in India/Sri Lanka. Another amazing action. Today I read in a Dansh newspaper where one of the founders said that what really counts is what we do while we live here. "We came with nothing and we go away with nothing" he also said. True words, just amazed that people follow what is told in BhagavatGhita.

Have a good night.

Chase your dreams no matter what surroundings are telling you...

Weekend is almost over, hope you had/are having an amazing weekend.
During my cleaning in my old papers and notes I found a A5 paper with following sentences:
"What do I like to do"
"Which talents do I want to improve"

Above those lines were few other lines written along with a name in parantheses "(Richard Carlson)". To be honest I do not remember when I have written this, whether the above two questions are read in any of Richard Carlson's writings. But the funny thing was that I found this piece of paper today noon and watched the Tamil movie "Nanban" this evening to find out that the movie tells the very same message which is: Do what your heart likes to do. What a coincident!
(The Tamil version is a remake of Hindi movie "3 idiots", haven't seen that movie yet).

Treat to see that the messages in the movie, it is really a worth watch for the 3 hours the movie lasts. I may admit it is a quite long time but you will not get bored at all. Some scenes are really well done that you can not hold your laughter back. You will burst out in huge laughters for sure.
After long time I enjoyed a Tamil movie, a real entertainer and at same time sending a message or more to the audience about:
- Happiness
- Love
- Success
- Friendship
- Courage
- Believe
- Attitude
- Life in all which should be faced with an "All is Well"-attitude.
The word "true" can be put in front of all the words above and that is what the movie is about.
Moreover the movie is about choosing the life you really want within your heart and take action towards it. Really a treat to see one's belief in a movie.
Especially the subject choosing the field of your interest when choosing your studies or area of work is handled very well. Among Tamil people, (I believe it is a general subject among Asians also) it has been "trendy" to choose subjects which are respected in the society rather than chasing your dream.
Luckily I am in a family who do not have any objections regarding their children's choice of work field. I also guess that Tamil people are getting better to choose from their heart these days, the one issue left may be that youngsters (not their parents) choose the subjects due to reputation on a specific subject rather than taking time to find out what their field of interest is. Sometimes I have been asking my self whether I am in the right field, but at each thought I give, I may admit I like my field: Structural Engineering... Just have to put more focus on it to see some excellence in the results ...lol :)
And also do not forget that it is never too late to change the lanes according to your heart even you are 10, 20, 30, 40 , 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 or more:) Do not let age or your current situation be a hinder to follow your dream! Mind it always!

Watch the movie, think about the messages, and be happy you already are living what is told in that movie :-)

Wishing you all an extraordinary week ahead in your work/studies.

Attached a picture from last week taken by my mobile, My favourite candles, actually don't know the English name for this type of candles, but it is called "spindelvævslys" or "blondelys" in Danish.

Pfaff Ambition 1.5

I went to a sewing machine shop today to have a look on a Pfaff Ambition 1.0. After having used little time on which brand and type of model will suits my needs sewing ethnic garments especially very thin fabrics, I found Pfaff as the brand which could meet my sewing needs. Phaff is welknown for their IDT (Integrated Dual Feed) feature which means that the fabric is fed from bottom but also from top. This gives a really good finish. I tried to sew on a thin fabric at the shop. First without the IDT and then with the IDT. The results were really amazing. I have sewn in thin fabrics using my mom's old Singer machine. It is really hard to feed the thin fabric evenly and the result would also be a little crumpled. The difference could be felt today :)

The Ambition 1.0 was out of stock - seems like it is a very popular model. The differents between 1.0 and 1.5 are only that the latter one have a touch screen and a bobbin thread sensor. For me the last two thing were not that important that I would pay 200$ extra for these features.
However I ended trying the 1.5 model as the 1.0 was out of stock. And it seems quite easy with the touch screen actually. You get a stick/pin which makes it easy to do the selections.
The personnel in the shop were nice to let me try few features, and showed how it worked. :)
I was impressed by the features... Lot of things happened in the sewing machine world since I have tried my mom's old Singer machine for years, I may admit.

The good news was that since 1.0 was out of stock they offered the 1.5 to the very same price as the 1.0 :)
Now I was in real trouble, I never planned to buy a sewing machine for more than 1000kr (approx 200$). But at same time I already had seen that it would be tough to get a cheaper sewing machine to fulfill my needs. Hence I only wanted "to have a look" today.

Sometimes you shall pay for the value, and I decided to buy one right there in the shop.
I ordered the Ambition 1.5 based on the 40 minutes trial I had in the shop and also based on my search on the net past few days. Now waiting for it to be delivered :)

Now the sewing machine is in place, I need to overcome any laziness and lay it on the shelves and get started to create what I have longed for so many years. Make my own sarees :)

I hope he is certainly right!

"The Snowball - Warren Buffet and the Business of Life"

Picked up the book "The Snowball - Warren Buffet and the Business of Life" at the library today. Made the reservation few weeks ago and got the email today that the book was arrived. The weekend will be relaxed with this book once I get home after the sewing machine hunt tomorrow.

Warren Buffet:
"A public-opinion poll is no substitute for thought"

"Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken."

"I always knew I was going to be rich. I don't think I ever doubted it for a minute."
"I don't look to jump over 7-foot bars: I look around for 1-foot bars that I can step over."
"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently."

"It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction."

"Only buy something that you'd be perfectly happy to hold if the market shut down for 10 years."

"Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing."

"Price is what you pay. Value is what you get."

I think I have chosen him before as today's person of my choice, but he said something nice, hence I have copy pasted those nice quotes.

Have an amazing evening!

Taking up challenges...

I always wanted other people to face their problems. But I've realised that most people use to escape from challenges, problems, obstacles in their lives including myself. It is so easy to flee away from everything in stead of facing the big issues.
But you know what, it is much better and easier if you can hold yourself a little longer on the same spot and try to figure out how to solve the challenge/problem/obstackle arisen, you will feel much much better afterwards than if you have escaped from the spot right after the challenge/problem/obstackle has arisen.

Let me say, it will feel like you really are strugling in the time frame starting from the minute you are aware of the challenge/problem/obstackle till you take the decision to be on the spot to find a solution.
As the solution is not obvious it is tough to convince yourself to be in your current situation. The easiest solution would be to decide escaping from the situation. Most of us are an average human being, and of course we choose the easiest way out without thinking what comes next. The minute the easy solution comes to our mind, we stick to it as it is glued to our mind and vision. And we can not get ourselves away from it - another thought which is always accompanied by the easy escape-thought.

We get stressed, we get frustrated, irritated, find thousands of other reasons for justify our escape plans, but do not use a little percentage of the effort put on useless thoughts on constructive thoughts. Why? Because we have made certain things/thinking become our habits. Nothing else. I believe that if we just take a little more time to relax and tell ourselves that it took few thousands attempts for Thomas Alva Edison before he invented the electric bulb, we will understand that it is ok that we do not have the solution right in the hand when problems occur. All what matters is that we are willing to be in the spot and look for solutions. If the will is there, we will certainly be able to find a solution.
...That we get wiser day by day, only makes the electric bulb working better and better :)
Be aware of this, and issues will fade away as quick as they seem to arise.

One quote I really like very much is:
"It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer." - Albert Einstein

...joy's soul lies in the doing."

I noticed that the numbers of post for this year is equal to the number of the day ran out in this year...meaning...
- can easily count how many days of this year is gone...really a new view on how quick days flies away...not that much of a happy news though...
- can see that I write something every day..lol

When you don't want to write or have nothing to write, this kind of nonsense can be written ..Now you know !!!

Making patterns over and over and over...

Sometimes you go to the shoppingcenters on a Saturday, buy those things you think you will use almost every day and also think that you really need them. You get a great satisfaction the moment you buy those things, come home and put the shopping bags on the couch or table or whereever you find it convenient to place them, and relax a little bit and start you usual routines doing everything else than unpacking the bought things. Sometimes days pass away before you open the shopping bags and find time to remove the price tags. Sometimes you just hang those clothes in the wardrobe even without removing the price tags.
I have done lot of this kind of shopping for years. This year I decided not to such shopping. Somehow I fell back in the habit last weekend and bought a gymball and a yoga matt saying to myself that I will get started doing the exercises right away. I quess a week or two passed by, and I haven't even used the things till now. This evening I decided to pull myself together and do those exercises which are really good for your back and stomach.
What a relief after doing those exercises... The posture will be corrected soon :)

I went to the sewing class today. That was really good. I cut out a pattern for the saree blouse after Burda pattern no 7701, and cut the pieces in a fabric. Stitched them together, herafter my teacher adjusted the blouse and pinned the exessive material, and draw few lines on the blouse, etc. I draw a new pattern out of the corrections made on the blouse, cut new pieces of fabric and stitched them together. When finishing the latter part the time also ran out. And I will try the new blouse next time, so my teacher can tell whether we have a final pattern or need to adjust more. This is a time consuming process, lot of preparations need to be done, before a final pattern  is made to your measures. But I believe the final result will be satisfying that all hours spent will be valuable.

Herefter I can focus on adding sleeves. This is really a big project :)

Today I also found a salwar kameez picture on net, which dupatta had the right colour combinations I want to   use in my saree design. Two really nice colours combined, And I can not wait to get the sewing machine to stitch my new sarees !!!

Oh by the way I totally forgot to write the titles of the sewing books I borrowed at the library last Friday:
"Sy selv - grundbogen" & "Sy selv, i specialstoffer" (Danish)
"Sewing Essentials" & "Sewing Specialty Fabrics" by Singer Sewing Reference Library.
More books in this series!!

And today's person is selected because of his contribution to the mankind with his sewing machines...

Maalayil yaaro...

Have been busy seeing the X-factor tv programme, and reading about sewing techniques in a very nice sewing book. I will write down the book title and authors tomorrow. Actually it is a series of 16 or 18 books. I borrowed the basic one and two others useable for my initial works. I took sewing class when I was in 9th grade, optional version. So most of the techniques were forgotten in the past 16 years. It was good to see some techniques I already knew, and some new ones, and few of those "aahh it is done this way, ok!"-relief expressions. Lol

Today's person of my choice: Swarnalatha
...Indian singer, who passed away few years ago in a young age.
She was the person I really wanted to hear sing live, but I never took any effort to buy tickets for any of her concerts. And one day it was too late. What an amazing voice.

See her singing one of my favourite songs in a tv programme:

Need planning...

I have been on a search about learning few sewing techniques, and came across very good videos, of course on the youtube.com. Time has been little, need to stick to my plans in the evening. Need some discipline!!!
Already Thursday tomorrow. Can not believe time and weekdays are flying away.
I found few blouses, blouse materials, and a georgette saree to my sewing class on Sunday. I need to plan where I'm going to start. I also found unstitched chiduthar fabrics and patterns for salwars kameez bought from Burda.

Seriously it is bit difficult to find out where to start, but I think I will ask the teacher to help me cut a pattern to make a saree blouse. Dedicate the first day to the long waited blouse stitching :-)
I'm prety sure the teacher will be able to teach me one or two techniques makign the blouse perfect!

Perseverance

Today I was sooo close to skip the post, but I said to myself, no!
Finding quotes from today's person is so motivating and inspiring because you surf through so many nice quotes that it will be a pity stopping today's person of my choice.
This blogging is really a challenge to overcome my laziness, and see what perseverance can result in if laziness is conquered!

Today's person of my choice: John D Rockefeller

How to make flower garland

Thanks once more to those founders of the youtube.com.

Today I went to temple I had to bring a flower garland because of some nerthi. Thanks to the youtube I found a video showing how to make flower garland. It became a beautiful garland, of white, purple and red chrysanthemum flowers.

The video I watched to learn the techniques ares here:
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=1ZzwZjoDzk4

I decided to make more flower garlands in the future and bring them to temple.
2+2+2 bouquets of chryshantemums (5 Do you call them boughs?, in each bouquet) is more than enough to make the garland. I made one for the Pillayar main statue in Herning Temple, approx 50cm long doubled.

Chicken Soup for the Soul books

Today's person of my choice: Jack Canfield
...for his series of the chicken soup for the soul books.

"I'm a big believer in growth. Life is not about achievement, it's about learning and growth, and developing qualities like compassion, patience, perseverance, love, and joy, and so forth. And so if that is the case, then I think our goals should include something which stretches us."

My brother-in-law had one of his chicken soup for the soul book, I borrowed it and was touched by the stories in the book. And bought one for my self. Yet haven't returned the one I borrowed from my brorher-in-law.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Canfield

Jack Canfield is also in the book called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and the movie of the same name. He explains how he made his dreams come true and living the life of his dreams.

Stop by one book store and get yourself one copy of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. You will like the stories and will be touched as I did, I bet!!

Take care!

Ps: Today I got an email stating there is a vacant place on the sewing course I applied for Tuesday evening. The course start next Sunday, and I look so much forward to get started!!!!! :)
