Mini holiday in London incl. a trip to Walsingham Church

I'm back in Denmark again after a mini holiday in London visiting my relatives, doing Indian saree shopping, visiting the Shrine church in Walsingham on an annual Tamil pilgrimage day and not least being awake till 4-5am just talking and playing cards :).

My aunt invited me to London this summer especially to take part in the annual pilgrimage day in Walsingham. I visited Walsingham the very first time back in 2004, and now visiting the church after 8 years. Thousands of people visits the church on this day in July, and you need to queue up for a very long time before you can get into the Shrine Church, light a candle and offer a prayer. During the long wait you can write your prayers on a paper given by the church and the prayers will be offered (I assume) the very same day?.

I like the thought offering a prayer however it was bit tough to write any immediately. After a little while it was easy to write great thanks for all the good things in our life. Sometimes we do not appreciate all the good things we have till we see how other people are suffering in their lives. Isn't it little weird that we do need situations to appreciate or give a thought of how amazingly gifted we are? We put the autopilot on and sometimes relax too much to see how amazingly our life unfolds in front of us. I'm constantly telling me to be aware of the precious life every day but 75% of the time I fall back and get into "the routines" and take things for granted.

Anyways, I want to share this link, if you are interested put your prayer in the form given in the link below and your prayer will be offered in the Shrine Church: http://www.walsinghamanglican.org.uk/the_shrine/prayer_devotions.htm

I may also remember this UK visit for another reason:: I bought my very own idly cooker :)
My mom has offered me to take one of her idly cookers but somehow I felt they were not the right size, and when I came across this little mini cooker in Alperton I couldn't ignore it. A cooker for 8 idly, doesn't it sound little cute, lol.
...and with a steamer plate to make all other Indian/Sri Lankan food. Now I don't have any excuse not to prepare tasty South Indian/Sri Lankan food.
Now I need to try some recipe. Did I write that idly is one of my favourite dishes??
I read that it will need some experience before you get the soft idly. We will see how it goes for me as I'm planning to prepare the idly batter tomorrow and make some idly Saturday morning for a real South Indian breakfast.

Finally I pulled myself together to write a post on my blog after a very long time. I got some plans for the nearest future and blogging is the best way keeping one sticked to the plans and be committed. Admitted... that it is embarrassing to say something and not follow up on it. I usually run away, not anymore!

Have a nice evening.

Having off tomorrow, what a good feeling to know that while others go to work I can hang around in my apartment doing what I really want to do... I should take more off in the future :D

Good night!
